Cantonal Screening Programs at a Glance
Not every canton has a program. Here is how to find yours.
Organized breast cancer screening in Switzerland is regulated at the cantonal level. Many cantons offer a screening program in which women age 50 and older are invited for a mammogram every two years. Other cantons do not yet have a program, and a few are just rolling one out.
In these programs, quality is assured: the equipment and the way results are read follow set standards, and the costs are covered by basic insurance without any deductible. Where there is no program, a purely preventive mammogram usually has to be paid for out of pocket. [internal link: What breast cancer screening costs in Switzerland]
