When and How Often to Examine Your Breasts

Once a month is enough. More important than how often is doing it consistently, because that is the only way you learn what is normal for you and notice when something is off.

The best time is about a week after your period starts, roughly day three to seven. By then the tissue is softer and less affected by hormones, so changes are easier to feel. Just before your period the breast often feels lumpier and more tense, and that is normal.
