Injuries, implants, and breast size
Can a blow trigger cancer? Do implants raise your risk? Straight answers.
Here too, there are myths that are easy to clear up.
An injury or a blow to the breast does not cause cancer. Sometimes, after a bump, you pay closer attention to your breast and happen to discover a lump that was already there. The blow is what prompts you to look, not the cause.
Breast implants do not raise your breast cancer risk. They can, however, make a mammogram harder to read, so an additional ultrasound or MRI may be needed. Let the team know during your exam that you have implants.
The message behind all these myths is the same: do not let yourself be rattled, just stay attentive and get changes checked out. Symptoms, what to watch for
