Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Switzerland. Each year, around 6,000 to 6,800 women are diagnosed with it, along with a few dozen men. About 80 percent of those affected are 50 or older at diagnosis, and roughly half of all cases are found between the ages of 50 and 70.

The good news: the chances of recovery are good today. About four out of five women diagnosed are still alive five years after diagnosis, and with early detection that outlook improves even further.
