Anti Hormone Therapy

Many breast tumors grow under the influence of the female hormones estrogen and progesterone. Tumors like these are called hormone receptor positive. For them, anti hormone therapy, also known as endocrine therapy, is a central building block.

The medications take away the hormonal stimulus that feeds the tumor, either by blocking the hormone's effect or by lowering hormone production. The treatment is usually taken as a tablet over several years and works to prevent the cancer from coming back.

Because it is taken over a long time, side effects like menopausal symptoms can come up. There are ways to cope with them more easily, for example in supportive workshops. Community, connection, and free programs in Switzerland
